How To Use Ivermectin – On A Horse *wink*

Ivermectin for humans is a controversial subject. I’m not supposed to say that, so this is strictly for entertainment purposes only.

So, let’s pretend we’re horses. Just go forward with that throughout the rest of this post. I’ll most likely forget to reference horses as I go through it.

We use Durvet Ivermectin and grab the six packs from Amazon. You can see the box of what we use in the picture below.

When we start a dosing regimen, we put our names on the boxes that are ours and the date of when we start. This is the most recent one that I’ve done. You can see – I’m Mom and the date I started was 2/4/2025.

Hey there! While I’m sharing my experiences and tips, please keep in mind that everything I post is for informational and entertainment purposes only. What works for me might not be your exact solution, so always make sure to do your own research and consult professionals when needed. Prepping is personal, and every journey is unique—so let’s learn, laugh, and grow together!

You’ll have this syringe looking item that comes out of the box, but there is a much longer blue plunger on the other end.

These slots are for 50 mg sections. I take 3 slots because I weigh 160 lbs. We like to do 50 mg for 50 lbs. For the most part, I don’t like to go over.

You can see this is my final dose in this tube.

This is a gelatinous consistency and it smells like Jolly Ranchers green apple. But let’s be clear – it does NOT taste like it. It’s very bitter.

I like to wipe my amount on the back of my hand and then lick it off, but what I do is shove it to the side of my tongue and then follow it with water or a flavored drink. Swallow it like a pill. I can usually avoid the majority of the bitter flavor by swallowing it along the side of the tongue.

There’s really no leftover on the back of my hand. My husband just scrapes it off with his horse teeth. Ahem.

My friend took it at the same time as me. We live on opposite ends of the states and we had no idea the other was taking it.

But then we noticed we were both really melancholic and depressed feeling for a while – about 3 days. Then there was a bout of diarrhea and I suddenly felt amazing. My mood was drastically updated. My friend’s as well.

My kids were going through the same thing. This was interesting. I’ll come back with more information to update things.

Ivermectin for humans is hard to get so a lot of people use the veterinary version that is linked above.

Have you used Ivermectin? What was your experience?
